CDI congratulates FKG Group on reaching PC on the magnificent new Cairns Aquarium

CDI congratulates FKG Group on reaching PC on the magnificent new Cairns Aquarium and is proud to have been retained to prepare all contractual documentation for this complex and impressive project that opens next week.

The Cairns Aquarium is built on the corners of Lake, Florence and Abbott Street in Cairns, Queensland and is a 15m high, 3 level, 9,000sqm (100,000sq ft) world-class modern and iconic building providing a family attraction. It has more than 3 million litres of salt, fresh and brackish water displays and showcases the incredible species and habitats found exclusively in Queensland’s far North. Visitors will be able to see many of the creatures that cannot be found anywhere else in the world or are rarely seen due to their nocturnal habits. Several rare, endangered, unusual, and even deadly specimens will be on display.

The Cairns Aquarium was constructed by FKG and designed by world renowned and multi award winning public aquarium designers, Peddle Thorp Architects in association with architects, Ellick and Partners. A team of Australia’s finest engineers from CADRNO & ARUP and specialist aquatic consultant, Aquatic Environmental Systems (AES), worked together to realise Australia’s newest public aquarium.
