Emilio’s experience spans advisory work – such as drafting and reviewing construction contracts – and dispute resolution proceedings, including litigation, adjudication and mediation. By focusing on potential risk factors during contract negotiation and project setup, he helps clients proactively address issues like payment terms, variations, and extension-of-time (EOT) claims. This early involvement reduces the likelihood of costly conflicts and sets the stage for smoother project delivery.

On the dispute resolution front, Emilio has supported clients in navigating site related challenges, managing critical project correspondence, and coordinating expert input for complex claims. Drawing on his understanding of legal principles, commercial drivers and construction practices, he tailors strategies that minimize disruption and protect project timelines.

Clients appreciate Emilio’s direct communication style and commitment to delivering concise, results-oriented guidance. Whether drafting a new contract or resolving a contentious dispute, Emilio consistently strives to safeguard his clients’ interests and help them move forward with confidence.

Emilio’s experience includes:

• adjudications under Security of Payment legislation in Queensland and New South Wales for both claimants and respondents, including as part of a team in 2025 which secured the largest adjudication award in Queensland in the previous five years;
• representing a prominent Queensland builder in defending claims in the New South Wales Supreme Court arising from an alleged breach of a statutory duty, including the preparation of extensive cross-claims and mediation amongst 10 counterparties; and
• preparing and instructing counsel in a successful urgent, ex parte injunction application to the Supreme Court of Queensland to secure an injunction against insurance bonds valued at $1.8 million on behalf of a client.
