Jason’s speciality is twofold: advising, drafting and negotiating construction contracts and ancillary documents for commercial, civil and industrial construction projects and acting for both claimants and respondents in high-value adjudication disputes across Australia.
Jason has particular experience in complex quantum disputes in both traditional and alternative dispute resolution forums.
Notable matters in which Jason has acted include:
- preparing the construction contract and associated documentation for the developer of the Southpoint development, the ‘crown jewel’ of the South Bank cultural hub precinct in Brisbane Australia, and one of Queensland’s largest mixed-use developments comprising retail, residential and a boutique hotel;
- acting for the claimant in an international commercial arbitration seated in Singapore with over $1 billion in dispute arising from the Ichthys LNG project in Darwin, Northern Territory;
- acting for the successful claimant in security of payment applications with a total value of over $300 million (which was, at the time, the largest amount adjudicated in Australia) relating to the Wiggins Island Coal Expert Terminal project in Gladstone, Queensland;
- acting for the successful claimant in the recovery of circa $85 million in multiple security of payment applications arising from the Moorebank Intermodal Precinct project in Sydney, New South Wales.
Jason has been recognised as a “recommended” Queensland construction and infrastructure lawyer (Doyles Guide, 2024-2025).
